About Us

Indian Health Bureau is a non governmental media organization dedicated to promoting health awareness and encouraging belief and behavioral changes that can significantly reduce the disease burden and economics challenges faced by India. The organization strives to educate, inform, and inspire individuals and communities to adopt healthier lifestyles by harnessing the reach power, and influence of media-across digital, social, and traditional platforms. Indian Health Bureau works to improve health literacy, counter misinformation, and support a preventive approach to healthcare nationwide through evidence-based content, public health campaigns, and strategic communication.

Background and Need

India is facing a growing public health crisis marked by a dual burden of communicable and non-communicable disease (NCDs). According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), non-communicable diseases account for nearly 64.9% of all deaths in the country. These include heart disease, diabetes, cancer, chronic respiratory disease, and mental health disorders-many of which are linked to lifestyle and behavioral factors.

The economic consequences are also profound. The World Economic Forum and the Harvard School of Public Health estimated that Indian could lose over USD 4.58 trillion between 2012 and 2030 due to non-communicable diseases and mental health conditions alone-primarily from lost productivity and treatment costs.

One of the reasons for this significant disease and economic burden, as per experts, is low awareness. Fewer than 30% of Indian adults possess the knowledge and capacity to understand and use basic health information effectively, according to a UNESCO study. This knowledge gap fuels health misinformation, stigma, and poor health-seeking behaviors.
