Wound: Should it be covered or left open?

Many of us stand confused whether wound should be left open or covered.

Here is the answer.

Wounds should be mostly covered for they need moisture to heal. Leaving it open may dry out new surface cells, making their survival difficult. This may delay the healing process. Plus, open wounds can catch infection easily. Also, they are at increased risk of getting injury. All in all, it is better to keep the wound covered with gauge and ointment that can keep it moist. Yes, you may leave it open if it is very small in size and is at place that remains covered with clothes but doesn’t get rubbed with it.
